My name is Brian Pruiett and I am a candidate for State Representative of the 24th Legislative District, Position 1.
I'm also a retired 34-year Army veteran serving a total of four command assignments and two tours in Afghanistan. I was a firefighter for the Conway Fire Department. I am presently a member of Carlsborg VFW and Captain of the Carlsborg CERT team. When I was in Afghanistan, I trained local forces in knowing how effectively protect themselves, their families, their communities and their country from known enemies. As a CERT Team Captain, I train people in knowing how to prepare for known natural threats in our region and how to protect and assist citizens in a disaster. I know about the need for public safety, in war time and peace time.
The need for protection is simply a fact of life. Whenever I hear about tragedies like the recent Uvalde, Texas, school shooting; for the life of me, I cannot understand why our schools aren't protected by armed safety officers. After all, banks, airports, jewelry stores, the White House, and our very own WA Governor Inslee's office, all have security guards. Why shouldn't we afford the same security to our children's' schools? Please respond to the survey below to let me know if you agree.
